Rohit-Gambhir will have to take measured risks to win the Sydney battle!

sydneyFollowing the adage of forgetting the past and looking forward, the Indian team will have to quickly forget the Melbourne defeat as it is time to focus on the fifth and final Test of the BGT series starting in Sydney. There is only one day’s time to forget everything and start working afresh. On January 1, the Indian team preferred to rest while the Australian team sweated profusely on the field. This means that now India has only one practice session before the clash in Sydney where they have to see how to counterattack after the defeat and with which team they can try to win the match.

Jasprit Bumrah remains the best player of the series and he/she will definitely perform well again at the SCG. The important thing is that Mohammed Siraj bowled much better in the Australian second innings at the MCG. This will be a big relief for the Indian team management. Akash Deep was not really a good fit for Melbourne and it will be interesting to see if India go back to Harshit Rana. The Sydney pitch has changed over the years and Harshit or Prasidh Krishna could actually be a better option at the SCG.

Will talk to specialist player

We saw in Melbourne what happened to players who bowled a little and batted a little. Team India will need to keep its thinking positive. If they play all-rounders to provide relief to the bowling then it cannot be two all-rounders, Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy, who bowl only 27 overs in the entire Test match. In such a situation, he/she is not playing as an all-rounder but as a batsman. While Nitish Reddy has been brilliant, the question arises whether Shubman Gill should get a chance at the SCG ahead of Sundar? Although Sundar has done nothing wrong, it is unlikely that India will want to drop Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli. And this is where Sundar may have to sit out.

Australia definitely won but are upset

There is a lot of weakness in the Australian batting and it has been exposed time and again in this series. After the score of 94-6 in Melbourne, the Indian bowlers should have restricted the Australian innings to 150 runs but due to the tiredness of Bumrah and Siraj, the Indian bowling. There was not much life left in the tank. This is where Harshit Rana would have come in handy with his/her hit the deck option which was a big mistake.
There is a need that the Indian team management should change its thinking to Test cricket because one cannot win five-day cricket with T20 strategy. And if this happens in Sydney then there is no reason why Team India should defeat Australia in the new year. One thing is clear that Captain Rohit Sharma’s red ball career is in more danger than the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The time has come for Rohit Sharma to give his/her best performance. What difference does it make whether it is a 1-3 defeat or a 1-2 defeat? So take a risk, plan and hit Australia directly. The series score being 2-2 would mean that India would be victorious. Indian fans will definitely expect such a gift from their team on New Year.
