New Delhi. Rishabh Pant registered a big achievement against New Zealand on the fourth day of the Bangalore Test match. Pant was out after scoring 99 runs in the second innings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. he/she missed his/her seventh Test century by just one run. Left-handed batsman Pant also completed his/her 2500 runs in Test cricket during this period. Pant has become the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to score 2500 test runs. he/she achieved this milestone in 62 innings. he/she broke MS Dhoni’s record. Dhoni had achieved this feat in 69 innings whereas Farooq Engineer had to take 82 innings to reach here.
Rishabh Pant achieved this feat after scoring a half-century. he/she completed his/her half-century in 55 balls. Pant scored 99 runs in 105 balls with the help of 9 fours and 5 sixes. Pant was out for the seventh time in Test cricket after scoring 90 or more runs. Earlier, he/she was out after scoring 91, 92, 92, 93, 96 and 97 runs in the test. In the year 2022, Pant was out after scoring 93 runs against Bangladesh in Mirpur, while in the same year he/she was out after scoring 96 runs against Sri Lanka in Mohali. In 2021, Pant returned to the pavilion after scoring 91 runs in the Chennai Test. In the same year, he/she was out after scoring 97 runs against Australia in Sydney, while in 2018, he/she returned to the pavilion twice with a score of 92 against the West Indies.
Pant and Sarfaraz added 177 runs
During the 177-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Sarfaraz Ahmed (150) and Rishabh Pant (99), India started to tighten the grip on the match but the fast bowlers made a great comeback for New Zealand by taking 7 wickets within 54 runs with the new ball. . India’s second innings was limited to 462 runs, giving New Zealand a target of 107 runs to win. Sarfaraz hit 18 fours and three sixes in his/her 195-ball innings, while Pant hit nine fours and five sixes in his/her 105-ball innings.

Pacer Tim Southee broke his/her brilliant partnership with Pant by dismissing Sarfaraz. After this, new bowler William O’Rookie again put pressure on India by dismissing Pant and Lokesh Rahul (12) in seven balls. The ball took the inside edge of Pant’s bat and hit the wickets while Rahul was caught by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell.
