Rhea Chakraborty summoned by Delhi Police in Rs 500 crore mobile app scam

Rhea Chakraborty has recently been in the news for both her professional and personal life. After making a comeback in the industry with podcasts, Delhi Police has summoned him/her in a case related to HiBox Mobile Op in connection with a scam worth around Rs 500 crore. The investigation was initiated after Delhi Police received over 500 complaints , in which people claimed to have invested money on the app after watching a promotional video from their favorite social media influencer or YouTuber.

Police statement in app scam

Deputy Police Commissioner (IFSO) Hemant Tiwari told news agency PTI, ‘Through the applications, the accused had promised guaranteed returns of one to five percent daily, the amount of which ranged from 30 to 90 percent of the monthly return.’

Scam people to invest in app

HiBox app was launched in February 2024 and it lured more than 30,000 people to invest money. The app had promised that investors would get returns by June. But then they started stopping payments and transactions citing technical glitches, GST, legal issues etc. Police said that the main accused in the scam, Chennai resident Shivaram (30), has already been arrested.

According to the complainant, apart from Rhea Chakraborty and YouTuber Saurav Joshi, Abhishek Malhan, Purav Jha, Elvish Yadav, Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachiyaa, Lakshya Chaudhary, Adarsh ​​Singh, Amit and Dilraj Singh Rawat were among those who posted on their social media. The app was promoted.
