However, the more difficult it is to obtain a US visa, the more challenging it is to renew it. A recent case has thrown more light on this.
In fact, an Indian citizen currently working in America on H-1B visa has mentioned the challenges faced in renewing the visa. She has narrated how she is facing difficulties in getting an appointment slot through the Interview Waiver Program (commonly known as Dropbox) at the US Consulate. he/she has expressed deep disappointment over the difficulty being faced in this entire process and described it as frustrating.

On social media platform Reddit, a frustrated Indian man has described the visa renewal process as a ‘nightmare’. “I have been looking for an H-1B dropbox visa slot for over a month now and they are refusing to release anything for India,” he/she said. The Indian man said, “All I’ve seen are random dates two days from now. How is this really going to work for people living in the US? This is really crazy.”

The Reddit user demanded immediate action, saying, “I need to get my visa stamped before November because I have to travel to India and the current situation is making me worried. I can’t just go there and hope That they will release the slots the next day.” he/she described the entire process as frustrating.

What is Dropbox scheme?

America’s Dropbox scheme allows applicants to submit their visa renewal documents on the day of the interview. All Dropbox submissions for H-1B visas in India are processed through the US Consulate in Chennai. However, applicants can submit their documents at any visa application center across India. Due to lack of slots to submit documents, many Indians have to come to India for appointments. However, many times the slots are released only a few days in advance, due to which it becomes very difficult to come to India immediately.
