The new system has been introduced so that transparency and efficiency can be increased. Applicants are also going to benefit from this. Every year the US government issues 65 thousand H-1B visas. Apart from this, 20 thousand additional visas are reserved for students who have obtained degrees from a American university. Indians are at the forefront of getting a H-1B visa. For the last few years, more than half of the visas have been received by Indians. The allocation of H-1B visa is done through lottery system.
Changes in H-1B Visa Registration Process
- Earlier many companies could submit applications for the same candidate. However, this is now more justified. This will ensure that all candidates get equal opportunities. It will not matter how many companies have applied for an employee.
- Under the new system, USCIS will select beneficiaries instead of applications. Now there will be selection of only those who are eligible. This will prevent duplicate entry. Earlier the elder could have registered many registrations for the same employee. It used to benefit them, which will not happen now.
- Companies will now have to register candidates electronically before submitting the H-1B petition. This will make the process easier and will also reduce paperwork. America is insisting on reducing paperwork anyway.
- Registration fees have also increased under the new system. Earlier it is $ 10, which has now increased to $ 215 per entry. This will increase the cost for companies that submit several applications.
What will be the effect on companies and employees?
The new system has reduced the strength of big companies. Earlier, these companies used to take advantage of many applications in lottery. But now every applicant will get a similar chance. Due to increase in registration fees, companies will now have to choose their employee carefully. USCIS wants to speed up the selection process by giving priority to electronic registration. This will also reduce administrative expenses. Employees will benefit that now companies will think about sponsoring them by giving them more priority to their experiences.
