Crowe Fukase Syndrome or POEMS is a rare type of blood disorder that gets worse over time and can become very serious if you don’t get it treated. In this you will have a lot of abnormal plasma cells which can destroy your body’s systems and many organs.

POEMS stands for Poly Neurotherapy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, M Protein and Skin Changes. During this disorder, your body produces so many plasma cells that they go out of control.

These cells start releasing monoclonal protein into your blood, which is also called M protein. Exceeding this can cause damage to your nerves and organs. This disease is quite rare and occurs only in people between 50 and 60 years of age. This can happen to anyone, male or female. As the name suggests, it has different parts. M protein: When this protein enters your blood, it starts making more copies of plasma cells.
Changes in the skin: In this condition, changes start appearing in your skin like the color of the skin becoming darker, the skin becoming a little thick etc.

Its symptoms include weakness, tingling, numbness, burning sensation, feeling as if needles are pricking in the body, enlargement of the liver or lymph nodes, inability to control blood sugar, problems related to thyroid, dark color of the skin. These include thickening of the skin, excessive hair growth on the face and legs, blood vessels appearing like small cherries, etc.

Radiation Therapy: Direct radiation is used to destroy abnormal plasma cells.
Chemotherapy: Anti-cancer drugs are also used in this therapy so that these extra and abnormal plasma cells can be eliminated.
