Rajinikanth’s ‘Vettaiyan’ enters Rs 200 crore club on sixth day, ‘Devra’ flops even after earning Rs 400 crore!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Vettaiyan’ had a good start at the box office, but as the weekend passed, its momentum suffered a major setback. After Monday, the film’s earnings have declined on Tuesday also. However, in the meanwhile, in six days it has become a part of the worldwide Rs 200 crore club. This is the second Kollywood film to achieve this feat after Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT in the year 2024. On the other hand, Junior NTR’s ‘Devra’ has also started getting tired. This film is also on the threshold of 300 crore club worldwide. However, despite this it will still be called a flop. Made in the direction of TJ Gnanavel, ‘Vettaiyan’ is an action-drama. The film also stars Hrithik Singh along with Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati. The story revolves around a police officer, who considers it justice to kill criminals in encounters. Out of this, Rs 3.20 crore has been earned from the Tamil version. Whereas only Rs 83 lakh business has been done from Telugu, Rs 25 lakh business from Hindi and Rs 2 lakh business from Kannada. The total collection of the film at the domestic box office in six days is Rs 114.65 crore.

‘Vettaiyan’ had earned Rs 22.30 crore on Sunday. But the way its earnings declined by about -75% on Monday to Rs 5.60 crore and now it has further fallen by -23% to Rs 4.30 crore, it is going to be difficult for it in the future. At this pace, the film’s dream of becoming a hit in the country by earning more than Rs 300 crore may be shattered. Especially because the condition of the film in Hindi version is very bad. In six days it has earned only Rs 2.77 crore in Hindi.

Made under the direction of Koratala Siva, this film received mixed reviews. Its story is also like ‘Vettaiyan’, where it performed brilliantly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but the Hindi version missed the mark in North India.
