But on Wednesday, Justice Amit Borkar’s court gave a clear direction to the sessions court in Islampur, located in Sangli district of southeast Maharashtra, to hear Thackeray’s discharge plea afresh.
When was Raj Thackeray arrested
Raj Thackeray was arrested by the police in Ratnagiri on October 21, 2008, in connection with a protest launched by his/her party against North Indians living in Maharashtra. In fact, it was then claimed by other parties that Raj Thackeray was depriving North Indian ‘sons of the soil’ of employment in the state.
At the same time, after the arrest of Thackeray, riots broke out in Mumbai, Jalgaon, Aurangabad and different parts of the state. At the same time, several FIRs were registered against 54-year-old Thackeray and his/her supporters in all these cases.
In the year 2013, Raj Thackeray had filed an application for acquittal in the Magistrate Court there, which was immediately rejected by the Magistrate Court and a fresh summon was issued to Raj Thackeray to frame the charges. After this, MNS and Thackeray approached the Sessions Court, but when there was no relief from there, they again approached the HC. In which now there will be a fresh hearing.
