Raj Kapoor’s ‘Awara’ premieres at Toronto Film Festival, film in a fresh and modern look

Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Awara’ will be enjoyed once again in a new way. Next month, on the occasion of the Toronto International Film Festival, the world premiere of the digital restoration of one of the classic films of Indian cinema’s legendary actor Raj Kapoor, ‘Awara’, will be held.

This film made in the year 1951 will be screened during the 49th edition of North America’s biggest film festival, which will start from September 5 and will run till September 15.

The film has been given a fresh and modern look

The high quality 4K restoration of the original print of the film has been done by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and National Film Archive under the National Film Heritage Mission of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In this process, special care has been taken to ensure that the original version of the film is not tampered with while giving it a fresh and modern look. It has been funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.

Raj Kapoor has been included in TIFF before

This classic film will have its world premiere in the classic films section of the Toronto International Film Festival. Raj Kapoor, known as the showman of Indian cinema, has been included in TIFF before. In 2011, a big retrospective show of his/her films was organized at TIFF, titled ‘Raj Kapoor and the Golden Age of Indian Cinema’. Film fans can now enjoy Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Awara’ in 4K at TIFF on September 13.
