Raj Babbar’s family wanted to convert Nadira’s religion, daughter said – people of all four religions in the house

Actor Raj Babbar got married even before making a place in the industry. he/she decided to marry his/her first wife Nadira much earlier. Raj and Nadira were from different religions. he/she was a Hindu and she was a Muslim. Although he/she faced pressure from his/her family as they wanted Nadira to convert to Hinduism, but Raj did not do so and Raj Babbar’s father supported him/her. his/her daughter Juhi Babbar recently married her parents. Revealed about the relationship and how his/her family was not accepting of both religions. he/she told that they both respected the customs. Raj’s family wanted Nadira to convert to a name like Nirmala or Nirdesh, but Juhi credited her maternal grandfather for preventing this from happening.

Juhi said in a conversation with Leharen, ‘We are a symbol of Indianness. We are just waiting for a Christian girl to join the family so that we can have all religions in our home. We belong to all religions.

The family used to celebrate Eid and Diwali

Saying that she has grown up in a beautiful environment, Juhi said, ‘We celebrate both Diwali and Eid with the same enthusiasm. There is not a single festival where both our parents are not present. I wouldn’t say we are a very religious family, but we are deeply cultural. It is part of our culture for the entire family to be together on all festivals, birthdays and New Years. When others party outside with friends on December 31, we stay together at home.

Has there ever been any discord due to religion?

Juhi was asked whether there ever was a rift between Raj and Nadira due to religious differences. To this Juhi directly replied ‘no’. For this he/she talked about their mutual understanding and respect for each other. Juhi said, ‘My maternal grandparents, Sajjad Zaheer and Razia Sajjad Zaheer, were comrades. They usually did not fast but celebrated Eid. Even though my grandfather did not offer namaz every day, he/she still offered Eid namaz. They all followed it. Juhi also said that Raj and Nadira’s families also share a good bond despite religious differences.
