Rahul vs Omar: Stop crying over EVMs, accept the results… Now you have started giving advice to Congress too.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has raised questions on Congress’s EVM controversy. he/she said that he/she never blamed the machines for the election results. Due to this, the position of Congress included in INDIA alliance has become uncomfortable. Abdullah also objected to the fact that Congress first celebrates the victory with EVM and later blames it for the defeat. he/she has also raised questions on the leadership of Congress in the INDIA alliance.

If you win then it is right, if you lose then EVM is to blame.

Omar Abdullah said in an interview that when your party reaches Parliament after winning more than a hundred MPs through EVM, you consider it your victory. But after a few months, when the results do not come as per your expectations, you start questioning the EVMs. This is not right. Omar further said that when you get more than a hundred Members of Parliament using the same EVM and you celebrate it as a kind of victory for your party, you cannot turn around and say that after a few months. We do not like these EVMs because now the election results are not going the way we want. When asked about his/her statement that he/she was looking like a BJP spokesperson, he/she said God forbid. he/she further said, ‘No, just… what is right is right.’ One day voters choose you, the next day they don’t.

If you have problem with EVM then don’t contest elections.

Abdullah gave his/her own example to explain his/her point. he/she said that once he/she had lost the Lok Sabha elections, but later won the Assembly elections with a majority. he/she said that I never blamed the machines. he/she said that if parties do not have confidence in the voting system, they should not contest elections. Taking aim at the opposition parties, especially Congress, who raised questions on EVMs, he/she said that if you have a problem with EVMs, then you should stick to your point. If you have problems with EVM, you should be consistent in those problems. he/she said that if you have problem with EVM then you should not contest elections.

Congress did not give any reaction

The National Conference (NC) was already angry with the attitude of the Congress in the Jammu and Kashmir elections. Abdullah had said during the election campaign that Congress was unnecessarily focusing on Kashmir, while the election was about how the Congress would perform in Jammu. Acknowledging the growing resentment over Congress’ leadership in the INDIA alliance, Abdullah asked the Congress to justify its role as it is the largest opposition party in Parliament. he/she stressed that leadership has to be earned, it is not given just like that. Leadership has to be earned and cannot be taken lightly. However, the Congress leadership has not reacted to these comments.
