Amritsar (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar for the second consecutive day and performed ‘seva’ at the shoe stand. In pictures shared by Congress, Rahul can be seen arranging shoes at the counter and handing over shoes to devotees.
Earlier in the day, Rahul served his ‘seva’ at the Golden Temple’s community kitchen, known as langar.
On Monday too, Congress performed ‘seva’ after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, the most revered religious place of the Sikhs.
As part of the services, he could be seen washing pots and other utensils at the Golden Temple. Congress Punjab President Raja Waring had said on Monday that Rahul Gandhi is on a personal, spiritual journey.
“Rahul Gandhi Ji is coming to Amritsar Sahib to pay obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. This is his personal, spiritual visit, let us respect his privacy. All party workers are requested to be physically present for this visit. Don’t be. You all can show your emotional support and meet him next time,” the Punjab Congress president posted on Twitter.
Senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa said the former Congress president was on a personal spiritual visit to the Golden Temple.
“Congress MP @RahulGandhi is on a personal spiritual journey. He paid obeisance at Darbar Sahib #GoldenMandir Amritsar. The country is going through a period of great turmoil. The whole world is shocked by the kind of violence that took place in the BJP ruled state of #Manipur. . Communal clashes also broke out in Haryana, another BJP-ruled state. The Congress party always wishes for a better future for the country. Therefore, apart from making other efforts, it also seeks God’s mercy,” he posted on Twitter.
The Punjab tour is also being seen as an outreach effort ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections. In 2022, Congress lost power in the state to Aam Aadmi Party. (ANI)
