Rahul Gandhi also accused the government of doing injustice to Kashmiri Pandits in the union territory and asked Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to apologize to the community.
He said, ‘There is no issue bigger than your (citizens of Jammu and Kashmir) statehood. Your authority has been taken away by the Center and the Congress will use all its might to restore it. Let us tell you, on August 5, 2019, the Central Government abolished Article 370 and divided the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.
He further said, ‘Today I met a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits who briefed me about various issues. He told me that when he went to meet the LG, he was told not to beg. LG should realize that these people are demanding their rights and apologize to the community. Kashmiri Pandits working in Kashmir division under PM package have been protesting in Jammu for more than six months.
The former Congress president also said that during his visit to the Jammu region, he met several people who told him that outsiders were being benefited by the government and the local people were being denied their rights.
