Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that his party would give all its might to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi also accused the government of doing injustice to Kashmiri Pandits in the union territory and asked Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to apologize to the community.
He said, ‘There is no issue bigger than your (citizens of Jammu and Kashmir) statehood. Your authority has been taken away by the Center and the Congress will use all its might to restore it. Let us tell you, on August 5, 2019, the Central Government abolished Article 370 and divided the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.
He further said, ‘Today I met a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits who briefed me about various issues. He told me that when he went to meet the LG, he was told not to beg. LG should realize that these people are demanding their rights and apologize to the community. Kashmiri Pandits working in Kashmir division under PM package have been protesting in Jammu for more than six months.
The former Congress president also said that during his visit to the Jammu region, he met several people who told him that outsiders were being benefited by the government and the local people were being denied their rights.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir is facing the highest percentage of unemployment in India. Educated people do not have employment opportunities. Earlier, they had the option of joining the Indian Army, but now BJP has come up with the Agniveer scheme. He said that the Agniveer scheme is weakening the Indian Army and the army personnel are against it.
Rahul Gandhi has said that the BJP’s Modi government has used demonetisation and GST schemes as weapons to eliminate small and middle class traders. The money of the countrymen is going to a few selected industrialists in the country, while they are not able to provide employment. The BJP government has done the work of eliminating small businessmen as the backbone. Jammu and Kashmir has the highest unemployment in the country. Rahul was addressing a meeting at Ashok Nagar near Satwari Chowk on Monday. Walking from Vijaypur in Samba, the Bharat Jodo Yatra had reached under the leadership of Rahul.
