New Delhi/Texas: MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi arrived in Dallas, Texas on Sunday for his/her three-day US visit starting today. Indian Overseas Congress president Sam Pitroda and members of the Indian diaspora gave a warm welcome to the Congress MP at the airport. Rahul Gandhi has expressed hope to engage in meaningful discussions to strengthen ties between the two countries. he/she was welcomed with a bouquet and aarti on his/her arrival in the US. In his/her Facebook post, Gandhi said that I am really happy with the warm welcome I received from the Indian diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress in Dallas, Texas, USA.

First trip after becoming the leader of the opposition
Rahul further said in his/her Facebook post that I am looking forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and practical interactions that will further strengthen the ties between our two countries during this visit. During his/her US visit, Rahul Gandhi will hold meetings and interactions in Washington, DC and Dallas, including the University of Texas. Earlier on August 31, Sam Pitroda had said that this is Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to the US after becoming the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Pitroda said in a video statement that ever since Rahul Gandhi became the Leader of the Opposition, as the President of the Indian Overseas Congress with a presence in 32 countries, I have been receiving requests for a dialogue with Rahul Gandhi by Indian diaspora diplomats, academics, businessmen, leaders, international media and many others. he/she further said that the Congress leader is coming to the US for a very brief visit from September 8-10.

What is the full schedule of Rahul Gandhi’s tour
Sam Pitroda further said that he/she will be in Dallas on September 8 and in Washington DC on September 9 and 10. In Dallas, we will be interacting with students of the University of Texas, academics and people from the community. We will have a very big community gathering, we will meet some technocrats and then we will have dinner with leaders from the Dallas area.

The Indian Overseas Congress chief further said that Rahul Gandhi will travel to Washington, DC, where similar interactions are planned with various people, including think tanks, the National Press Club and others. A lot of programmes have been planned with various people because we have found that people are very interested even in the states that we run with the Congress government. We expect a very successful visit and look forward to welcoming Rahul Gandhi to the US, he/she added.
