Racist comment on Bumrah in Australia, had to apologize on air

New Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah is continuously impressing with his/her bowling in Australia. he/she took 6 wickets for Australia in the first innings of the Brisbane Test match. Bumrah’s bowling is being appreciated a lot. Former England women’s team captain Isha Guha also praised Bumrah’s bowling, but during this, some words came out of her mouth on air for which she had to apologize. Indian-origin Isha called Bumrah a ‘primate’ (human-like animal). Commentator Isha Guha on Monday apologized for her racist remarks. he/she said he/she was ‘extremely sorry’ for choosing the wrong words to describe the Indian fast bowler’s brilliant performance with the ball.

Isha Guha made this comment in response to Brett Lee praising the Indian bowler after Bumrah dismissed both Australia’s openers on the second day of the Test on Sunday. Isha, while commenting for Fox Cricket, said Was, ‘Well, he/she’s the MVP (Most Valuable Player), right? Most Valuable Primate, Jasprit Bumrah. he/she is the one who is bringing success to India and hence in the preparation for the Test match, there was so much focus on him/her to see whether he/she would be fit.

Use of the word ‘primate’ took social media by storm
Isha’s use of the word ‘primate’ took social media by storm as fans criticized her and forced the 39-year-old former player to apologise. Isha said during the commentary at the beginning of the third day’s play, ‘Yesterday in the commentary I used a word which can be interpreted in many different ways. I would like to apologize for causing any hurt. I have set very high standards for myself when it comes to empathy and respect for others. If you listen to the whole thing, I meant to give the utmost praise to one of India’s greatest players and a player I admire a lot.

‘I am an advocate of equality’
Isha of Indian origin has been in the broadcasting team of Fox Sports for many years. he/she said there was no malice in his/her comments. She said, ‘I am an advocate for equality and someone who has spent my career thinking about inclusion and understanding in sports. I was trying to convey the enormity of his/her achievement and I chose the wrong word. I am very sorry for this. I am of South Asian origin so I hope people understand that there was no other intention or malice in this. Once again I am really sorry.

‘It takes courage to apologize on live TV’
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was sitting next to Isha when she apologized, praised her for speaking live on the issue. Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was also present there. Shastri said, ‘Brave woman, it takes courage to apologize on live TV. You heard it from his/her own mouth so as far as I am concerned the matter is closed. People make mistakes, we are all human. Sometimes when you have a mic in your hand, some things can happen.
