In the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening India-US relations, increasing cooperation in defense and space technology, and global issues. Biden supported India’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and praised Modi’s leadership in the G20 and the Global South. The Prime Minister emphasized that India and the US now work as a comprehensive global strategic partnership that covers all areas of human endeavor.

  1. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest and exchanged views on global and regional issues in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
  2. President Biden praised India’s leadership on the world stage, particularly Prime Minister Modi’s leadership at the G20 and in the Global South, a White House statement said.
  3. “India is at the forefront of efforts to find solutions to the most pressing challenges, from supporting the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic to addressing the devastating consequences of conflicts around the world,” the White House said.
  4. President Biden commended Modi for his/her historic visits to Poland and Ukraine by an Indian Prime Minister in decades and for his/her message of peace and ongoing humanitarian support to Ukraine.
  5. President Joe Biden and PM Modi have said during a meeting that the partnership between the US and India is the most important partnership of the 21st century. This partnership is working well for the world.
  6. The two leaders reaffirmed their support for freedom of navigation and security of commerce, including through vital sea lanes in the Middle East, where India will co-lead Combined Task Force 150 in 2025 to work with joint maritime forces to secure sea lanes in the Arabian Sea.
  7. US President Joe Biden said in a meeting with PM Modi that America supports efforts to reform global institutions so that India’s important voice can be properly heard by the world, this also includes India’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council.
  8. The two leaders praised the success of the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET), which has helped deepen and expand strategic cooperation in key technology areas, including space, semiconductors and advanced telecommunications.
  9. The two leaders expressed commitment to enhance regular contacts to improve the pace of cooperation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum, biotechnology and clean energy.
