‘Pushpa 2’ stampede case: Police counterattack – Permission was not given to go to the theater, everything captured in CCTV footage


There was a stampede during the screening of Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2’ at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4. The mother had died in this accident and her 9 year old son is still struggling between life and death. After this incident, an FIR was registered against Allu Arjun and he/she had to spend a night in jail. he/she held a press conference at his/her home a day earlier on 21 December and broke his/her silence on several allegations. he/she also said that he/she had gone there only after getting permission. But now CCTV footage has been released by the police, in which complete minute-by-minute information has been given. The police also said that the actor was not given permission. Hyderabad Police held a press conference on Sunday, December 22, a day after Allu Arjun’s press conference. Chikkadpally CI Raju Nayak said, ‘I personally wrote a letter in which it was said that going to theater is not allowed. We tried a lot, but could not save even one life… I am very sad about this. I had earlier written a letter to the management saying that permission had not been given. We have no contact with Allu Arjun’s team. The theater management should inform Allu Arjun’s team about the lack of permission.

Police have also released CCTV footage of this entire incident. It is clearly visible that a large crowd had gathered outside Sandhya Theatre. When Allu Arjun reached there in his/her car, it was around 9.34 in the night. he/she comes out of the sunroof window of his/her car and greets his/her fans. There is a rush to get a glimpse of him/her. Allu Arjun stands on the sunroof of his/her car for a long time and then suddenly a stampede occurs. All this happens in just five minutes. Avoiding the crowd till 9.40, Allu Arjun moves towards the upper balcony inside the theatre. he/she goes inside and sits on the seat to watch the movie with other celebs.

‘Problems of society should be understood’

Telangana Police Chief Jitendra said, ‘We are not personally against Allu Arjun or any other person. Promotion of a film is not more important than people’s safety. They are heroes in films, but on the ground they should understand the problems of the society.

Police went to Allu Arjun and informed him/her

Revathi dies in the stampede between 9.45 pm and 50 pm. his/her son gets seriously injured. Revati also has a young daughter, whose photograph was shown by the police. After this, CCTV showed that the injured child was somehow brought from the balcony below to the canteen. The police are seen running outside carrying him/her on their shoulders. Police tries to give him/her CPR. By then Allu Arjun was sitting inside watching the movie. After this the police officers go inside and tell them that the woman has died and her son is injured. At 12:05 in the night the police comes out with Allu Arjun. After sitting in the car, he/she again greets his/her fans from the sunroof.

Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had said that Telugu actor Allu Arjun attended the premiere of his/her film ‘Pushpa 2’ despite being denied permission by the police and refused to leave after a stampede-like situation. It is clearly visible in this CCTV footage that the police is bringing them out. This video supports the CM’s claim that the police had to throw him/her out of the theatre. CM had also said that he/she went to the theater without permission, did a road show there in his/her car, which created chaos, he/she was informed about the death of the woman, but even then he/she did not come out of the theater, later The police had to bring him/her out.

Allu Arjun had rejected the allegations At the same time, Allu Arjun had said in the press conference that permission was taken from the theater management. The police cleared the way. So he/she went there. he/she said, ‘If I had been told that there was no permission, I would have gone back.’
