Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan apologized by holding his/her ears, said- I did not intend to hurt anyone

Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan recently became emotional during an interview and apologized to Punjabi organizations with folded hands and holding his/her ears. Gurdas Maan gave this interview to an American Punjabi channel. There were two such incidents due to which Gurdas Maan was surrounded by controversies, and now he/she has apologized. Gurdas Maan said that his/her intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings or offend anyone. If anyone is hurt because of him/her, then he/she apologizes. It is known that recently Gurdas Maan used abusive language for those youth during his/her foreign tour, who were protesting against his/her show. At the same time, earlier he/she had said about the mother tongue that first Hindi is his/her mother tongue and then Punjabi. But the biggest controversy happened when Gurdas Maan said in a speech given at the Dera Baba Murad Shah fair in Nakodar in the year 2021 that Ladi Sai of the Dargah located there is a descendant of Guru Amar Das Ji, the third Guru of the Sikhs.

Sikh organizations were enraged at Gurdas Maan for this statement. They then lodged an FIR against Gurdas Maan and staged a sit-in protest demanding his/her arrest. Gurdas Maan got relief from the court in this case, but he/she also sang a song about all these incidents, which created a ruckus. Many people also abused Gurdas Maan.

‘I hold my ears and apologize’

According to the report of ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, now Gurdas Maan has said, ‘I apologize holding my ears. The song I sang for Sikhism did not have anything in it that would offend anyone. Still, if anyone has been hurt by my words or anything I said, I apologize. But I am saddened by the fact that I sang a song for my Gurus. I was thinking that Punjabis are considered to be big-hearted and they will forgive me for whatever mistake I made. But that did not happen.’

‘If my mother is called a traitor, will my conscience not wake up?’

Gurdas Maan then said that everyone makes mistakes and has been making mistakes. But this does not mean that his/her mother should be abused or that she has given birth to a traitor. he/she said, ‘If someone calls my mother a traitor, will my conscience not awaken? I was abused. It was said about my mother that the one who gave birth to me is a traitor.’
