Protests erupt in Balochistan after journalist allegedly kidnapped by Pakistani security forces




Zubair Baloch, a young journalist and student, was allegedly abducted by Pakistani security forces in a late night operation at Hub Post in Balochistan. In response to the abduction of Zubair Baloch, his/her family and supporters have organized protests, including blocking the CPEC highway, to demand his/her immediate and safe release, The Balochistan Post reports.

According to The Balochistan Post report, Zubair’s sister said that armed men in a Wego vehicle raided their house at 3 am on Sunday and forcibly took away her brother. “We don’t know where he/she was taken or why he/she was targeted,” he/she said.

Zubair Baloch, a native of Tijaban, Turbat, has a degree in political science from the University of Balochistan and has previously worked with Intekhaab newspaper in Balochistan. he/she was at Hub Chowki on leave when he/she was allegedly abducted.

In response to the kidnapping of Zubair Baloch, his/her family and supporters blocked the CPEC highway and protested at Hub Bypass and Hoshap. They have urged local communities to join the protest and warned that unless their demands are addressed, the protests will continue indefinitely.

During a press conference with members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) Hubzone, Zubair’s family condemned the rising number of forced disappearances in Balochistan.

“This crisis has affected every Baloch family,” he/she said. “Today he/she is our brother, tomorrow he/she could be someone else’s son or father.”

The family has given a three-day deadline to the authorities for the safe return of Zubair Baloch, The Balochistan Post reports. “If he/she is not released within this time frame, we will intensify our protests and take more serious action,” he/she warned.

The Baloch Yaqzehti Committee has also condemned Zubair’s kidnapping and said, “Given the recent pattern in Balochistan, where enforced disappearances often end in fake encounters and extrajudicial killings, we are deeply concerned that Zubair may also be This is what we may have to face.” State.”
