Protesters rally outside the United Nations against violence against minorities in Bangladesh


A large crowd gathered outside the United Nations headquarters on Saturday demanding protection for Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

HinduAction, a Washington-based NGO, said people from all walks of life came spontaneously.

In a post on X, HinduACTion said, “Protests continue outside #UN – demanding protection of Hindus and minorities in #Bangladesh. So impressive to see people from all walks of life coming out spontaneously for the day of action. @DcWalaDesi @nytimes @nypost #All_Eyes_On_Bangladesh #SaveBangladeshiHindus”

Hindu Action reported that protests also took place in other locations in New York.

The NGO praised several US representatives for speaking out against the violence targeting Hindus in Bangladesh.

“Thank you @repfallon. Thank you for leading from the front. You are truly a leader for the ages,” Ngo said, referring to Fallon’s post on X.

In a post on X, Republican Congressman Pat Fallon said, “I strongly condemn the ongoing political violence and religious persecution in Bangladesh. I urge the interim government to act in the common interest of the Bangladeshi people and immediately end this violence.”

he/she said, “The targeting of Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and any other religious minority is reprehensible. Those who instigated and participated in these acts of violence must be held accountable.”

Several other leaders raised their voices against the violence in Bangladesh.

Earlier, US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi wrote a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, seeking assistance from the Bangladesh government in ending the violence against Hindus in the country.
