Charitable educational institutions, hospitals and schools for children with special needs will be given 100 percent exemption in property tax in Haryana. Other commercial activities including shops and shopping complexes can also be operated in charitable educational institutions and hospitals, but for this the government will collect property tax as per commercial rates. Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Vikas Gupta has issued orders in this regard. Chief Minister Manohar Lal had announced 100 percent exemption in property tax to charitable educational institutions, hospitals and schools for children with special needs three years ago even during the Corona period. These also include approved colleges, schools, hospitals and dispensaries. If any part of such buildings and land is being constructed or used for commercial purposes then property tax for that part will be charged as per market rates.
