President Draupadi Murmu leaves for three African countries, know which countries she will visit

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday left on her official visit to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi. This is the first visit by an Indian head of state to three African countries simultaneously. President Murmu will arrive in Algeria on October 13 at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. She will stay in this African country till October 15. This information was given by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Bilateral talks between the Presidents of the two countries

This visit will further strengthen the cordial relations between India and Algeria. Both the countries will come closer in strategic areas like oil, gas, defense and space cooperation. During this visit of President Draupadi Murmu, there will be bilateral talks between the two Presidents. Several Algerian dignitaries, including the presidents of the Council of Nation (the upper house of the Algerian parliament) and the National People’s Assembly (the lower house), will also attend the meeting.

Will address the economic forum between India and Algeria

Apart from this, President Murmu will address the Economic Forum between India and Algeria and the Sidi Abdellah University of Science and Technology Pol. She will also inaugurate the India Corner at the Hamma Gardens of the Jardin d’Essay. After this, the Indian President will visit neighboring country Mauritania from this North African country on 16 October. Mauritania is also currently the Chairman of the African Union.

Will also talk to people of the Indian community in Mauritius

After reaching Mauritania, President Murmu will talk to her counterpart Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al Ghazouani. Mauritania Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Dajay and Foreign Minister Mohamed Salim Ould Marzouk are expected to meet him/her. The President will also interact with people of the Indian community. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit of President Murmu will further strengthen India-Mauritania bilateral relations.

Meeting with top leaders of Malawi

After this, on the invitation of Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President Murmu will reach the East African country from Mauritania from October 17-19. President Murmu will hold meetings with top leaders of Malawi. After this she will interact with the country’s business and industry leaders and Indian expatriates. In the next phase of her journey, she will also visit cultural and historical sites of the country.
