President cancels suspension of accused of molesting a female tourist, IPS A. Koan sent to Andaman

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu has revoked the suspension of IPS officer A. Koan who was suspended on charges of molesting a woman in Goa. After the suspension was revoked, A. Koan has now been transferred to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Let us tell you that A. Koan is a 2009 batch IPS officer of AGMUT cadre.

After whose report did the suspension take place?

Last year, IPS officer A. Koan was accused of misbehaving with a female tourist at a beach club in North Goa. It was also alleged that A. Koan was in an inebriated state at that time. This matter was also discussed in the assembly, after which Goa CM Pramod Sawant said in the assembly that we will take strict action against the accused. Only after which Goa Police gave a report to the Home Ministry against the accused IPS officer. After which President Murmu suspended A. Koan.

Suspension cancelled after 11 months but transfer happened

The suspension of IPS officer A. Koan has been revoked after 11 months. As per the order issued on July 11, Dr. A. Koan was suspended on August 16, 2023. Disciplinary action was to be taken against him/her as per Rule 3 of the Indian Services (Discipline 85 Appeal) Rules, 1969. It was also investigated from time to time and then on February 10, 2024, his/her suspension was extended for another 180 days. Which is now being ended. Home Ministry Under Secretary Rakesh Kumar Singh said that there are no allegations of any kind of corruption against A. Koan and neither is any investigation pending against him/her till date. In view of all these matters, President Draupadi Murmu revoked the suspension of IPS A. Koan and the Home Ministry has transferred him/her to Andaman Nicobar Islands.
