Preparations to make NEET UG paper leak proof, is the central government going to make a big change?

NEET UG 2024 Latest News: In the wake of the controversy over the integrity of the NEET UG exam conducted by the NTA, the Centre is looking into the possibility of conducting the exam online from next year. This comes at a time when there have been reports of suspected leaks of the exam, which have led to protests across the country, multiple arrests, CBI probes, court hearings and now a deadlock in Parliament.

Currently, NEET is an annual pen-and-paper MCQ exam – where candidates have to choose their answer from the given options and mark it on an optically scanned OMR sheet.

The Health Ministry has been opposing making NEET UG online:

In the past, the Health Ministry has been opposing suggestions to shift the NEET to online mode, on behalf of which the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam. Now, according to several media reports, after a big question mark has been raised after the exam paper leak, the central government is seriously considering shifting this exam completely to online mode in the coming time.

NEET PG dates are being changed:

Meanwhile, let us tell you that the National Board of Examination (NBE) is preparing to reschedule the NEET PG exam, the new date of which is likely to be announced by Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the revised dates of the exams postponed due to the NEET controversy.

The joint CSIR UGC-NET will now be held from July 25 to 27, while the postponed UGC NET will be held between August 21 and September 8. An important change this year is that these exams will be conducted in computer-based test mode instead of the traditional pen-and-paper method. Apart from this, the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) conducted by NTA will also be held on July 10, 2024.
