New Delhi. The high-voltage match of T20 World Cup 2024 will be played between India and Pakistan in New York on Sunday. Indian players are engaged in rigorous practice ahead of this match, which will be played from 8:00 pm Indian time. A day before this match, Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav practiced batting for hours in the nets from India’s side. Kohli, who scored one run off 5 balls against Ireland, practiced twice. In view of the ‘uneven bounce’ pitch of New York and the Pakistani pace ‘quartet’, the Indian coaching staff roughened three of the 6 practice pitches on which the Indian batsmen practiced.

Despite getting hit on the thumb by a throwdown, Rohit Sharma along with other Indian batsmen practiced extra in the nets so that they can face Pakistan’s fast attack on the uneven bounce pitch of Nassau County International Stadium. While facing throwdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne, the ball hit Rohit’s left thumb. he/she looked uncomfortable but kept batting. After this, he/she went to the other end of the pitch to face the throwdown. The ‘drop in’ pitch of Nassau County Cricket Ground is being criticized a lot for its uneven bounce. In the first match, the Indian bowlers had bowled out Ireland for 96 runs. But Rohit and the rest of the senior batsmen know very well that the challenge from Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Aamir, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah will be completely different.

Rohit-Virat and other batsmen practiced hard in the 3-hour practice session
For this reason, the coaching staff made three of the six practice pitches rough and made them practice. When the South African team practiced on these pitches in the morning, none of their top batsmen came out to face Kagiso Rabada or Enrique Norkia for fear of getting injured. On the other hand, the Indian batsmen practiced vigorously. Rohit, Virat Kohli and the rest faced the balls of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Mohammad Siraj in the three-hour practice session.

Kuldeep Yadav may get a chance against Pakistan
Kohli, Pant and Suryakumar Yadav were the first to come out. They faced the bowlers as well as the throwdown specialists. India’s wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be a perfect fit against the Pakistani batsmen but it remains to be seen whether he/she is fielded in place of Akshar Patel or Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep practiced hard with the rest of the spinners. India defeated Ireland in its first match. While Pakistan lost to America in the super over in its first match.
