Preparations for the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha! Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju met Congress President Kharge

New Delhi :Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, a week before the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha begins. Rijiju met Kharge at the Congress chief’s residence at 10, Rajaji Marg. The meeting was described as a courtesy call. The minister later shared a photo of the meeting in a post on ‘X’.

Rijiju tweeted the information

he/she said in the post that I had a courtesy meeting with the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge ji. he/she shared many valuable experiences of his/her life with me. We will all work together for the country.’ While taking charge of the ministry last week, Rijiju had said that there is no need for the government or the opposition to belittle each other on the basis of numbers. he/she had said that he/she would contact everyone for the smooth functioning of the Parliament.

The session will begin from June 24

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is scheduled to begin on June 24. During this session, the newly elected members of the lower house will take oath. After this, the Lok Sabha speaker will be elected. If there is no consensus on the Lok Sabha speaker, the decision will be taken through elections. On June 27, President Draupadi Murmu will address a joint session of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. She is expected to outline the new government’s plan for the coming five years. The session is scheduled to end on July 3. Both houses are expected to resume in the third week of July to present the Union Budget.
