Preparation to spoil Australia’s plan, Rohit Sharma can give a blow

New Delhi. India can surprise the Australian cricket team on the Boxing Day Test. Team India is showing signs of entering this match with a change in its batting order. Captain Rohit Sharma is all set to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal at MCG. In Perth, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened and made a double century partnership in the second innings. India started with a victory of 295 runs. After this, the same pair started the innings in the second and third matches also. After returning, Rohit batted in the middle order.

After missing the initial matches of the Australia tour due to the birth of his/her son, Rohit returned to the team in Adelaide and decided to bat in the middle order. Because of doing this, KL Rahul got a chance to open with Jaiswal. However, this move did not prove to be good for Rohit Sharma and he/she could not do anything special. According to a report in Times of India, Rohit can open again in the Boxing Day Test, while KL Rahul can be sent at number three. KL Rahul has performed brilliantly as an opener in this series. he/she has scored 235 runs in three matches and is the highest run scoring Indian batsman of the series.

If Rahul comes at number three, then the team management can drop Shubman Gill from the playing eleven. Gill has performed average in this series. his/her performance is a cause of concern for the team. In such a situation, consideration can be given to keeping him/her out and sending Dhruv Jurel or Sarfaraz Khan to bat at number 6.

India can go with two spinners
The report also states that India can play with two spinners in Melbourne. Even though Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling performance was not good in the Gabba Test, he/she came out of trouble and saved the team from defeat by playing an innings of 77 runs. Jadeja is likely to remain in the team while Washington Sundar can come in the playing eleven in place of Nitish Reddy. Reddy has performed brilliantly in the series, but if India needs an additional spinner, he/she may have to make sacrifices.
