Preeti Sudan: Preeti Sudan will be the new chairman of UPSC, will take charge from August 1


New Delhi: The government has announced the new chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). 1983 batch IAS officer Preeti Sudan has been made the new chairman. Her appointment will be effective from 1 August 2024. It is worth noting that this post had become vacant after the resignation of former UPSC chairman Manoj Soni during the trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar controversy.

Former health secretary

Preeti has been a former health secretary. She has been a member of UPSC since 2022. It is worth noting that after the Pooja Khedkar controversy surfaced, former UPSC chief Mahesh Soni resigned citing personal reasons.

Preeti is an officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre

Preeti is an IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. She has been the Secretary of the Department of Food Processing and Public Distribution. Apart from this, she has also worked in the Department of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Defense. The credit for the ambitious scheme of the Central Government, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Ayushman Bharat goes to her. She will remain in this post till April 2025.

pooja khedkar controversy

It is worth noting that there is a lot of controversy going on regarding the trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar case. Many claims including Pooja’s documents are being said to be found fake. Not only this, UPSC has also registered an FIR against trainee IAS Pooja. Trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar, who is surrounded by allegations of fraud in documents, created her fake identity by changing her name, parents’ name, signature, email, mobile number and address. UPSC has started action against Khedkar. An FIR has been registered against her and investigation has been started.
