Poor Lady, tired, Poor Thing … overturned between two sessions, then Shah surrounded Ambedkar, now Sonia on President Murmu

New Delhi: Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) president on the first day of the budget session of Parliament Sonia Gandhi A statement of created a ruckus. On his/her comment about President Draupadi Murmu, the ruling party accused him/her of insulting the head of the state. This caused the opposition to come in the rescue posture. In a conversation with reporters outside Parliament, Sonia Gandhi was asked questions on the address of President Murmu. To this, Sonia Gandhi said, “Poor (Poor Lady), President was very tired till the end … she was barely able to speak, poor (Poor Thing).” Sonia Gandhi usually reads prepared speeches and avoids interaction with the media. Therefore, this sudden answer given to him/her was surprised by everyone. he/she was also accompanied by his/her MPs, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at that time.

Sonia pushed the opposition to the backfoot

After this comment, the opposition, especially the Congress, came on the backfoot. In the last session, the Congress created a big ruckus over Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dalit leader BR Ambedkar. By the evening, the opposition parties and especially the Congress were preparing to face the attack of the BJP. There is a possibility that the BJP will again demand an apology from Sonia Gandhi after the budget is presented on Saturday. Most of the Congress allies did not come forward in defense of Sonia. A senior opposition MP said on the condition of anonymity, “The word” poor “is used in common colloquial, but when it comes to a high position like President, public celebrities should take special care of their language.”

Priyanka defended mother

Priyanka Vadra defended her mother. Citing his/her mother’s age, he/she said that he/she had no intention of disrespecting the President. he/she also accused the media of distorting his/her mother’s statement. Priyanka said, ‘My mother is 78 years old. She just said that if the President read such a long speech, she must have been tired … She respects the President. I think it is very unfortunate that the media distracts such things. Both are respected people and are older than us.

Then Adhir had said- Rashtrapati

This controversy is reminiscent of the time when the then Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary raised the controversy by calling President Murmu as ‘Rashtriya’. he/she later had to apologize after an uproar in Parliament. Especially when Sonia Gandhi -led CPP had taken himself away from her comment. This incident has once again highlighted the importance of respect for language and respect for constitutional posts. It also shows how a small comment can create a big political controversy.
