Ponting is gone, who is the new head coach of Pant’s team now? This veteran can take over the command

New Delhi. Former Australian world champion captain Ricky Ponting has parted ways with IPL franchise Delhi Capitals. Ponting was associated with this franchise as head coach for the last 7 years. Under his/her guidance, the Delhi Capitals team could never become the IPL champion. The franchise has given information about Ponting’s removal from the post of coach on social media.
After Ponting’s departure, there is a possibility that the current team director Sourav Ganguly can work as the head coach in the next season. Ganguly is currently associated with Delhi Capitals as Cricket Director.

Delhi Capitals wrote on ‘X’, ‘As you move forward as our head coach, we were finding it incredibly difficult to put it into words. You told us about care, commitment, passion and effort. This is the essence of our seven years of working together.’ The franchise posted an emotional post about its long association with the former Australian player but the team management is not happy with his/her work due to not winning any title in seven years.

Ganguly can take over the responsibility of head coach
Australia’s two-time World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting became the head coach of the team in 2019. Under his/her supervision, the team managed to reach the final for the first time in 2021, but after that its performance declined. It remains to be seen whether Delhi Capitals appoints a new head coach or asks team director Sourav Ganguly to serve as head coach. The team’s assistant coach Praveen Amre is almost certain to remain in the post. Delhi co-owners JSW and GMR Group are scheduled to meet later this month or early next month to discuss further strategy in this matter.

Delhi Capitals finished at number six
The Delhi Capitals team captained by Rishabh Pant could not perform well in the last season of IPL 2024. Under the guidance of Ponting, Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs in 2019, 2020 and 2021, while after that the team could not reach the playoffs. Delhi Capitals finished sixth in IPL 2024.
