Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in Delhi. During this, Nitish and Lalu discussed the current political situation amid efforts to strengthen opposition unity against the BJP in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The meeting between the two stalwarts of Bihar politics took place on a day Tejashwi Yadav, deputy in the Nitish government and Lalu Prasad’s son, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for questioning in a money laundering case related to the alleged land-for-jobs scam. .
Earlier in August last year, the Chief Minister of Bihar had met the RJD supremo in Patna. The Chief Minister had met the RJD supremo at his/her residence. During this, both the sons of Lalu Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav were also present. Lalu Yadav returned to Bihar after treatment in August itself. During this, Nitish Kumar had met many leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Left parties. he/she also appealed to come together on one platform against the BJP in 2024.

After reaching the national capital, Nitish Kumar went to Misa Bharti’s house, where Lalu Prasad is staying. Nitish met Lalu Prasad and inquired about his/her health. If sources are to be believed, they also discussed the current political situation. During his/her visit to Delhi, Nitish Kumar is expected to meet several opposition leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Opposition has advocated unity
Earlier, Nitish Kumar had on several occasions advised all opposition parties including the Congress to join hands to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In February, Nitish Kumar asserted that if all opposition parties, including the Congress, fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly, the BJP will be reduced to less than 100 seats. Addressing a rally of the Grand Alliance in Purnia, the JD(U) supremo had said that the Congress would have to take a decision in this regard soon.
