New Delhi : A big decision has been taken by India amid tension in relations with Pakistan. India will participate in the Shanghai Summit Organization meeting being hosted by Pakistan. Pakistan will host the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in mid-October. The special thing is that Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will represent India in this meeting from the Indian side. PM Modi was invited for this conference by Pakistan. In such a situation, India has taken a very important decision to send S Jaishankar to Pakistan. Jaishankar is considered as PM Modi’s ‘Chanakya’.

PM Modi’s big decision

In August, Pakistan had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the SCO summit. Jaishankar’s visit to Pakistan is important as it is being seen as a major decision from New Delhi. The decision to send the senior minister is seen as a demonstration of India’s commitment to the SCO, which has been playing a key role in promoting regional security cooperation.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar has proved

This is not the first time that PM Modi has given Jaishankar the responsibility of handling an important front. Even before, Jaishankar has lived up to the trust of PM Modi on many important occasions. From America to Russia, from China to European countries, Jaishankar strongly presents India’s position on the diplomatic front. Jaishankar has many times exposed the double standards of Western countries on global platforms. Jaishankar is considered an expert player of diplomacy. In such a situation, when he/she represents India in Pakistan, India will be able to present its stand clearly on this multinational platform.

Be ready for Jaishankar’s attack

India has consistently said that it wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan. India has been insisting that the onus lies on Islamabad to create an environment free from terror and hostility for such relations. In such a situation, when the Foreign Minister is in Pakistan, he/she will definitely give a message to the world. Addressing the United Nations General Assembly last week, Jaishankar had warned Pakistan that its policy of cross-border terrorism can never succeed. he/she also mentioned the economic crisis of Pakistan. In such a situation, it should not be surprising if the neighbor will be indirectly targeted on the issue of terrorism in the SCO summit.

Will not meet Pakistani PM

The Foreign Minister will visit Pakistan only to attend the SCO summit. Apart from this, no official information has been revealed yet regarding any other program of the Foreign Minister. In such a situation, it is clear that Jaishankar has no plans to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Apart from this, apart from the Foreign Minister meeting, no meeting is scheduled with his/her Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar. Pakistan’s then Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had come to India in May 2023 to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of SCO countries in Goa. This was the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to India in almost 12 years.

Tension in relations with Pakistan

Relations between India and Pakistan came under severe strain after Indian warplanes bombed a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training camp in Balakot, Pakistan in February 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack. Pakistan is continuously promoting terrorism from across the border. Not only this, Pakistan keeps on raising tone regarding Kashmir on global platforms like United Nations. Regarding this, India has exposed the neighboring country to the world many times. When India abolished Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the neighboring country had objected to it. After the abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan limited diplomatic relations with India.
