PM Modi will go to Sri Lanka tour in April, will inaugurate solar power plant


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Next month i.e. in April, Sri Lanka will visit. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herrath announced this in Parliament on Saturday. he/she informed that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka early next month. The visit is important to finalize the agreements made during the visit of President Anura Kumara Disnayake to India last year. During this time several new agreements will be signed and the Sampur Solar Power Plant will also be inaugurated. This will be PM Modi’s fourth visit to Sri Lanka since 2015.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister gave information

Foreign Minister Herrath gave this information in response to a question during a debate on budget allocation in Parliament. he/she said that Sri Lanka’s relations with India are very close. Herrath said that Sri Lanka’s first diplomatic tour was from India, where many bilateral agreements were reached. We have maintained a close relationship with our neighbor India. Our first diplomatic visit was from India, where we reached many agreements on bilateral cooperation.

PM Modi will sign new agreements

In addition to the inauguration of the Sampur Solar Energy Station on this visit of PM Modi, several new compromise memories will be signed. This solar power plant will produce 135 MW of electricity in Sampur city of Eastern Tinkomali district. It is being built by Sri Lankan government power company Cylon Electricity Board (CEB) and India’s NTPC. The agreement was reached in 2023.

Herrath said that Sri Lanka has had many benefits from the NPP government’s goodwill policy towards India. Many projects in India are running in Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister also clarified that Sri Lanka would remain neutral in its foreign policy. Will not support any side. Will work keeping in mind the national interests. The tour is a symbol of growing relations between India and Sri Lanka. Economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries is continuously strengthening.
