New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited America after France. President Macron himself arrived at the airport to bid him/her away. India-France Advanced Modular Reactors (SMR) and Small Module Reactor have moved towards shared. Now the question is whether in bilateral conversation with US President Donald Trump, will PM talk on the agenda of nuclear energy? Such indications are being given by the government that this may be an important agenda of interaction with America.

There can be talk between the two leaders regarding energy

During the India Energy Week-2025 on Tuesday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri admitted that if there is no bilateral talks between the two leaders, they would be surprised. When asked that Nuclear Energy, especially SMR interaction with Trump, he/she said, yes it is on the agenda. In addition, there may also be talk on the issue of return of illegal overseas Indians, weapons procurement and tariffs. According to the statement by the White House, the US Vice President JD Wance and PM had discussed in such a way that the US could help India with the goal of investing in nuclear technology.

Government is serious about nuclear energy

The government is serious about nuclear energy. The nuclear power mission has been launched in this year’s budget, which aims to focus on research and development of small modular reactors (SMR). The government has fixed Rs 20,000 crore for this initiative. The target is that by 2033, at least five SMRs are to develop indigenously indigenously. India aims to increase the current nuclear power capacity from 82 gg to 100 gg in the next two decades.

Relief of nuclear plant not easy

Questions about the nuclear plant are also no less. Experts say that nuclear plant may cost three times than solar plant. Rather it can take up to six years to install it. At the same time, the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act bill passed in 2010 can show protests from the Civil Society and the Opposition. Experts believe that this will reduce the accountability of the supplier, which is not in the interest of the country.
