New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in the northeastern states and the scorching heat across the country, a day after the last phase of polling in the Lok Sabha elections ended. Official sources gave this information. Officials also said that after these meetings, the Prime Minister is also participating in a long brainstorming session to review the agenda of the 100-day program.

Discussion on flood situation after cyclone in Northeast

According to officials, the Prime Minister’s first meeting was regarding the flood situation arising after cyclone Remal in the Northeast. he/she reviewed the current situation with top officials of various departments. After this, he/she also chaired a review meeting on the situation of severe heat and heat wave in the country. The Prime Minister is also going to attend a meeting to review the preparations for celebrating World Environment Day on a large scale. World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June.

Central government will provide full assistance

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on the impact of the cyclone on the affected states. The loss of lives and damage to homes and properties due to landslides and floods in Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura were also discussed. The Prime Minister said that the Government of India will continue to provide full assistance to the states affected by the cyclone. These meetings of the Prime Minister are taking place a day after the last phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections. After the completion of voting, most exit polls have predicted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may return to power again. If the exit poll results prove to be correct, then Modi will be the second PM after Jawaharlal Nehru who will hold office for the third consecutive time. The election results will be out on June 4. Long before the Lok Sabha elections began, Modi had tasked various government ministries to prepare a 100-day agenda for the new government. he/she has asked his/her Council of Ministers to prioritize programs and initiatives for the first 100 days.
