PM Modi has been put on the back foot… Where did the weakened Congress get the lifeline from?

New Delhi: This election is no less than a lifesaver for the Congress, which failed to get the required number of Leader of Opposition in the last two general elections. It has not only almost doubled its number of seats, but has also succeeded to a great extent in regaining its lost ground. For the first time in this election, the Congress reached out to the people on the basis of social justice and gave a tough challenge to the BJP in many states. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, former President Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led an impressive election campaign, highlighting the welfare guarantees being given to the people by the party. The Congress prepared a manifesto based on five ‘justices’ and 25 ‘guarantees’ and put all its strength to reach out to the people. Congress leaders attributed the party’s spectacular comeback to focusing on people’s issues and its ‘justice’ guarantee. Also, the top leadership of the Congress strongly raised the claim in rallies that the BJP will change the Constitution, which seems to have a deep impact on the ground.

Congress made sacrifices in forming the ‘India’ alliance

Congress also made some sacrifices in forming, expanding and seat adjustment of ‘India’ alliance. Rahul Gandhi told reporters on Tuesday that all Congress leaders respect the allies of ‘India’ alliance and wherever the alliance fought, they fought ‘unitedly’. he/she said, ‘This fight was to save the Constitution. When the Modi government froze our bank accounts, put Chief Ministers in jail, broke parties, it was in my mind that the people of Hindustan will fight unitedly for their Constitution. This proved to be true.’

Rahul Gandhi put in all his/her effort

The Congress leader said, “I want to thank the people of India, the partners of the ‘India’ alliance, the Congress leaders and the workers of Babbar Sher from the bottom of my heart. You took the biggest and most important step to save the Constitution.” Gandhi said, “Through this election, the country has given the message that we do not want Narendra Modi, Amit Shah to run this country.” After the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections ended, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh had said that the party ran an aggressive election campaign during the Lok Sabha elections and put Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the back foot without any ‘ifs, buts’.
