PM Modi gave a clear message to the opposition on Agniveer, Rahul’s demand remained unfulfilled

New Delhi : From the Lok Sabha elections to the formation of the government, the opposition has been constantly trying to push the government on the back foot on the issue of Agniveer. In the first session of Parliament after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appeared aggressive on this issue. Along with the opposition parties, the main constituent of the NDA, Janata Dal United, also supported the amendment in the Agniveer scheme. Amidst the constant pressure from the opposition, PM Modi made the government’s stand clear in this regard. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the PM took the opposition to task over Agniveer. It became clear from PM Modi’s stand that Rahul Gandhi’s intentions are not going to be fulfilled.

Agniveer is an example of necessary reform

Prime Minister Modi on Friday described the Agneepath scheme as an example of the necessary reforms undertaken by the army. The PM accused the opposition of politicising the recruitment process aimed at keeping the average age of the armed forces young. In his/her address on Kargil Vijay Diwas, organised to mark the 25th anniversary of victory in the Kargil war, Modi said that some people were politicising a sensitive issue related to national security. The Prime Minister also rejected claims that the Agneepath scheme was launched to save pension money.

…then Modi will be abused today

PM Modi said that they are opposing the Agneepath Yojana, which aims to make our soldiers young and war-ready. They are saying that the Agniveer Yojana has been started by Narendra Modi to save pensions. The PM said that the thinking of such people creates confusion. he/she said that someone please tell me whether the people who will be recruited in Modi’s regime today should be given pension today itself or if they are to be given pension, then it will come after 30 years, Modi will be 105 years old at that time and he/she will be abused for that today. What argument are they giving.

The Agneepath scheme is also an example of the necessary reforms done by the army. Agneepath scheme will not only increase the strength of the country but will also provide us with capable youth. Some people are doing politics in this army reform for their personal benefit.

Rahul’s demand will not be met

One thing is clear from PM Modi’s statement that the demand of Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi to end Agneepath will not be fulfilled. However, Congress had promised in its election manifesto to end Agneepath scheme if it comes to power. Even after the formation of the government, Rahul Gandhi is continuously saying that Congress will end this scheme of recruitment in the army if it comes to power. Congress says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is lying outright about the ‘Agneepath’ scheme. There is anger among the youth about this scheme and Congress is firm on the demand that it should be canceled immediately.

How many Agniveers joined the army? From training to duty, top army officer told everything

Agnipath scheme was started in 2022

The government launched the ‘Agnipath Recruitment Scheme’ in 2022 with the aim of keeping the average age group young in all three wings of the army. This scheme provides for the recruitment of youth aged 17 and a half to 21 years as Agniveer for a period of four years. There is a provision to retain 25 percent of them for the next 15 years. Many opposition parties including Congress are targeting the government regarding this scheme. Opposition parties are raising questions as to what will happen to the remaining 75 percent Agniveers after the four-year term ends. Congress says that Agniveer does not get any pension, no gratuity, the family does not get pension and no education allowance is given for the education of children.
