Meanwhile, according to a report by Indian Express, Indians have suffered a loss of Rs 120.3 crore due to digital arrest fraud in the first quarter of this year alone. It cited data from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). According to the report, 46% of digital fraud cases, including business scams, investment scams (work-based) and romance/dating scams, registered during this period were digital arrests. Vicious cyber thugs based in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia were involved. The report said the victims suffered a total loss of Rs 1,776 crore.

This information has been given by quoting Rajesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Indian Cyber ​​​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C). 7.4 lakh complaints were registered between January 1 and April 30, 2024, while 15.56 lakh complaints were received in the entire 2023, 9.66 lakh in 2022 and 4.52 lakh in 2021. It has been said in the report that these thugs based in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia use many types of tricks. This includes luring for fake employment, exploitation with the help of social media etc.

National Cyber ​​Co-ordination Center has been established to create coordination among these agencies.
