Playing with facts, biased agenda… India rejected USCIRF report, gave a befitting reply to America

New Delhi: India on Thursday rejected the report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). India termed it a ‘biased organization’ with a political agenda. India described this report as ‘malicious’. The State Department reacted strongly and said that USCIRF should use more of its time in dealing with human rights issues in America.

What’s in the report?

In this report, India has been criticized for alleged violation of religious freedom. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘Our views regarding the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) are well known. This is a partisan organization with a political agenda.

‘It misrepresents the facts’

“It continues to misrepresent facts and promote a purposefully constructed narrative about India,” he/she said. “We reject this malicious report that only serves to further discredit USCIRF.” he/she was responding to media questions on the comments made about India in the report.

Questions on the functioning of USCIRF

The spokesperson has reprimanded USCIRF. The spokesperson has also raised questions on the functioning of USCIRF. he/she asked USCIRF to stay away from agenda-driven efforts. The spokesperson said USCIRF should focus on human rights issues in the US.
