Planning to study in Italy, Georgia Meloni’s government announced new visa rules for Indians

Study in Italy: Italy is one of those countries in Europe where tuition fees are very low. Due to affordable tuition fees, students from all over the world are now coming here to study. Indian students are also coming to study in Prime Minister Georgia Meloni’s country for the same purpose. More than 6000 Indian students are studying in Italy, whose number is increasing every year. Here more than 600 courses are taught in English, which is why Italy is becoming so popular among foreign students.
However, Indian students planning to study in Italy should also know about the rules of the new student visa. From January 10, 2025, applicants for Type D visas, including students studying in Italy for more than 90 days, will be required to make individual appointments for fingerprinting at Italian embassies. The new rules for student visas are expected to increase the administrative burden on both the embassies and the students studying here. The cost of going to the embassy will also increase for students and they may also have to wait a long time for the appointment.

Education expenses of students will increase

Speaking to The Pi News, Melissa Torres, CEO of the Forum on Education Abroad, said, “The cost of studying in Italy is already high. Due to the new rules, many students will have to pay for travel to the embassy out of their own pocket. “Also, they may now have to wait longer for visa appointments. I am concerned that this new requirement will impact students’ decisions to spend the entire semester abroad.” It is clear from this that it will become more difficult for students to study abroad.

Constant changes are being made in student visa rules around the world. The number of students in Canada has been limited, while in America, after the return of Donald Trump, it is expected that the visa rules may become more stringent than before. Similarly, Australia has also tightened the visa rules, so that a limited number of foreign students are given admission every year. In this series, now Italy has also done the same and has announced new requirements for visa.
