Plan to send dropout children back to school! Haryana government will conduct survey from January 1

Despite the efforts of Haryana Government, the problem of drop out students in government schools is increasing. Now the Haryana Education Department has decided to conduct a survey of children leaving school in the session of 2024-25. On January 1, 2025, the survey related to children dropping out of school will start at the school level. They will be re-admitted to schools. The schedule of the survey has been released by Haryana School Education Project Council.

Action plan for school drop-outs in Haryana

The Education Department has prepared an action plan to reconnect the children who have left school with studies in the session of 2025-26. There will be special cooperation of District Education Officer and teachers along with administrative officers in implementing this. On behalf of the department, a letter has been written to the Additional District Deputy Commissioner, Education Officer, District Elementary Education Officer and all the District Project Coordinator Samagra Shiksha, instructing them to conduct a survey to identify the children who have left school in the session of 2025-26.

The survey will start at the school level across the state on January 1, 2025, with the beginning of the new year. In fact, to fulfill the primary goal of the New Education Policy-2020, a plan has been prepared to send the children who have left school back to schools. The education department will prepare the data of drop out children and their enrollment will be started as soon as the new academic session starts.

Before the beginning of the session, the education department prepares the data of children leaving studies in the middle of the session. Not only this, they are also enrolled in schools. The Education Department aims to connect the population of SC and ST communities including street children, beggars, orphans, homeless, migrants, deprived tribes groups with education. The Education Department has prepared a plan for a six-day survey at the school level.

What will happen in the survey, how will it happen?

  • The survey will run from January 1, 2025 to January 6.
  • Teachers will conduct survey at village level. At the school level, teachers will conduct door-to-door surveys in the village and prepare data on whether children are going to school or not, mention the reasons for not going to school and urge parents to enroll their children in schools for the upcoming session. More focus will be on the families of laborers and migrant labourers.
  • A list of children not going to school will be prepared and provided to the school head.
  • After this the school principal will provide the list to the cluster head.

Director General of the Education Department, Ashima Brar, has written a letter to the District Education Officer and Basic Education Officers and given clear instructions that a survey will be conducted to identify children who do not go to school and drop out for the academic session 2024-25. Under the new National Education Policy-2020, enrollment and regular attendance of all children in schools is necessary. Therefore, at the school level, teachers and volunteers will go door-to-door and prepare data of children in the age group of 7 to 14 and 15 to 19.
