These figures have come out in a sleep survey titled ‘Great Indian Sleep Scorecard’ conducted by mattress maker Wakefit from February 2022 to March 2023 in Bengaluru and the rest of the country. More than 10,000 people were involved in this survey. In the sixth edition of this comprehensive survey, conducted among 4,000 people of different ages and different demographics in Bengaluru, the sleep patterns of people in Bengaluru, known as the Silicon Valley of India, are shown.
60% people feel sleepy at work
The survey, which lasted for 13 months, revealed that 61% of people go to bed after 11 pm, while the ideal time to sleep is considered to be 10 pm. The survey found that despite sleeping late, 29% of Bengaluru residents wake up between 7 am and 8 am and 60% admit they feel sleepy at work. Around 34% also complained of not feeling refreshed in the morning.
26% people claimed insomnia
Another interesting thing came out in this survey that 32% people sleep in places other than the bed. At the same time, 40% of respondents said that the bedroom environment affected their quality of sleep, while 20% believed that a better mattress could improve their sleep.
