People left their homes in search of jobs and went to other states, know which two states had the highest migration

New Delhi: Nearly half of the people who migrate to other states in search of jobs are from just two states, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This has been revealed in government data. Around 30 crore people across the country go to other states for jobs and for this they register their names on the e-shram portal created by the government. So far, about 30 crore people have registered their names in it. About 3 crore of them are from Bihar, while about 10 crore are from Uttar Pradesh. Most of these laborers work in other states.

The issue was raised in the Rajya Sabha

RJD Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav had asked in Parliament whether it is not true that due to lack of employment and job options in Bihar, people of the state have to migrate to other states? he/she had sought information about the data related to this. On this, he/she also asked the government about the total number of people migrating from Bihar to other states for employment? According to the figures presented by the Union Labor and Employment Minister on his/her question, more than 2 crore 90 lakh people from Bihar have migrated to other states for jobs. This is only the number who have registered their names on the e-Shram portal. Along with this, another worrying figure on the e-Shram portal is that the monthly income of 90 percent of the laborers in Bihar is less than 10 thousand. Low income is considered to be the main reason for migration. Also, the government officials themselves admit that crores of names are still not registered on the labor portal.

Migration is becoming a political issue

In the last few years, after the emergence of young voters in the Hindi belt, migration and employment have started becoming a big issue. This issue has directly become a mainstream political issue due to which all political parties have to include it in their agenda. Also, its side effect is being seen that to attract reverse migration, the state is refraining from giving jobs to people from other states and is even adopting legal path for this. But according to experts, this is a short cut and to deal with this serious issue, political parties will have to come up with a practical and long term plan.
