PCB took a big decision, 5 former cricketers including Misbah and Waqar were given important responsibility

Lahore. After the poor performance of the Pakistan cricket team, a big step has been taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board. To strengthen domestic cricket, the PCB on Monday decided to give important responsibilities to former cricketers. Veteran players Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik and Waqar Younis have been appointed as mentors of the five teams participating in the Champions Cup domestic tournament.

According to a PCB statement, all these players have been appointed mentors on a three-year contract. Waqar Younis has recently served as PCB consultant on cricket matters while Saqlain Mushtaq is the former head coach of the national team. Misbah and Waqar have also coached the national team.

The PCB said that the first tournament for all the former players appointed as mentors will be the Champions One Day Cup which will be played in Faisalabad from September 12 to 29. The PCB has made it mandatory for all its top players to participate in this 50-over competition.

It is worth noting that in recent times, Pakistan’s performance has been continuously declining. In the ICC ODI World Cup played in India, the team had to face defeat from Afghanistan while in the T20 World Cup, the US team defeated them. Now, playing at home, the Bangladesh team created history by defeating them in the Rawalpindi Test. For the first time in Test cricket, Pakistan had to face defeat against the Bangladesh team.
