PCB chairman knew everything about Pakistan’s exit from World Cup, reveals official

New Delhi. After the poor performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup, it is being criticized everywhere. From former cricketers to Pakistani officials, everyone is putting forth their views. All the news of discord within the team is coming out one by one. Former captain Shahid Afridi has raised questions on giving captaincy to Babar Azam. At the same time, a senior official even said that Pakistan Cricket Board President Mohsin Naqvi was aware of the discord among the team players.

A senior PCB official said that chairman Mohsin Naqvi was well aware of the problems in the team before the World Cup. his/her close friend and national selector Wahab Riaz had informed him/her about this. he/she said, “Naqvi held two one-on-one meetings with all the players and asked them to focus on winning the World Cup instead of personal interests. he/she also promised them to clear all the misunderstandings in the team after the World Cup but things did not work out.”

The source said, “I am not defending Babar, but what should a captain do when your main bowler cannot defend even 15 runs in the last over against a weak US team. he/she gives away a four and a six on a full toss. An all-rounder returning from retirement has to sit out of the team due to fitness problems.”

A report has revealed that the team was divided into three factions after Babar Azam was made the captain before the T20 World Cup. A team source told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “There are three factions in the team, one is led by Babar Azam, while the other camp is led by Afridi and the third by Rizwan. Amidst all this, the situation of the team worsened due to the return of senior players like Mohammad Aamir and Imad Wasim.”

he/she said that in the midst of all this, the players’ agents and some former players who ran social media campaigns did something that should not have happened. Along with all this, the role of external elements also worked to increase the tension in the team.
