Parliament session 2024: The first session of Parliament may start from June 18, know when the election process for the speaker will begin

New Delhi: The first session of Parliament after the formation of the new NDA government is likely to begin next week. According to sources, this brief session may begin on 18 or 19 June and its duration may be 4-5 days. In this, apart from administering oath to the newly elected Lok Sabha MPs, the important task of electing the new Lok Sabha Speaker will be completed.

When will the election process for the new speaker take place

Traditionally, the pro tem speaker administers the oath to the new MPs and the most experienced MP is made the pro tem speaker. Sources said that after the process of swearing in the MPs is completed, the process of election of the new speaker will begin. In the previous Lok Sabha, the responsibility of the Speaker was with Om Birla. he/she has been elected to the Lok Sabha this time too.

The most important session will be held in July

Sources said that the election of the new Lok Sabha Speaker is likely to be held on June 20 and after this, President Draupadi Murmu may jointly address the Parliament including Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha the next day. During this brief session, PM Narendra Modi will also introduce his/her new Council of Ministers to the Parliament. After this session of Parliament, it will have an important session in July, in which the new NDA government will present the budget for the financial year 2024-25. According to sources, the budget session may start in the second week of July.

Speaker election is very important

NDA has a majority in the 543-seat Lok Sabha, but the India Alliance is excited about its electoral performance. The kind of signals that came from the India Alliance before PM Modi was elected the leader of the NDA indicate that the opposition may try its luck in the Speaker’s election. In such a situation, the BJP will be cautious about any possibility of upset.
