New Delhi: The Government of India gives gallantry awards to the armed forces personnel for their bravery and sacrifice. These awards are given twice a year, on Republic Day and Independence Day. There are two categories of gallantry awards. The first is for the soldiers who face the enemies in the battlefield and the second is for the soldiers who are indirectly involved in the war. These gallantry awards remind us of the extraordinary sacrifices made by our soldiers. These honors remind us of their courage and dedication, who never hesitate to sacrifice their all for the security of the nation.

Gallantry awards are divided into two categories. The first category includes Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra and Vir Chakra. These honors are given to those soldiers who directly fight the enemies.
