Pank, the Human Rights Department of Baloch National Movement, has strongly condemned the ongoing harassment and psychological suffering on the families of forcibly missing persons in Balochistan. In a post on X, the organization recently highlighted an incident in Parom district of Panjgur, where two citizens -Tirk, son of Haji Mahmood, and Halima, who was detained by friend Muhammad’s daughter -in -law. Was and he/she was subjected to disappearance.
Although both individuals were eventually released, Pank emphasized that his/her illegal detention underlines the frequent violations of fundamental rights in the region. The organization further emphasized that families seeking justice for their missing loved ones will continue to face institutional oppression and threats.
According to Punk’s post, the case is disturbing especially given the background of the victims. Tariq was first subjected to the disappearance. Halima’s father, friend Muhammad, has been missing since 2012, leaving his/her family in pain for a long time. Additionally, Tariq’s brother, Dosta was killed in a drone attack last year, effectively erased his/her entire family.
The post states, “This oppression of grieving families reflects a deep disregard for justice and human dignity.” “Instead of meeting with compassion and accountability, these families have to face tireless harassment.”
Pank further stated that “Balochistan, which was implemented, remains a serious reality, where many families continue to bear psychological trauma and social stigma, seeking answers to their missing relatives.” The group emphasized that targeting the family members of the victims only increases their sorrow and ends the atmosphere of harassment and fear throughout the region.
Earlier, Pank also condemned the extraordinary murder of Somar’s son Pindok by Pakistani security forces in Mazrabad, located in Avaran district of Balochistan.
For immediate intervention, the organization urged human rights groups, civil society and international community to take action. The post read, “Criminals of such inhuman practices should be held accountable, and the missing families should be treated with respect and dignity.”
