Drug addiction is becoming a major problem in some parts of Pakistan. This intoxication is not of any kind of medicine or artificial substance but of poisonous scorpion. The risk of scorpion smoking is increasing in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) of Pakistan. Although there are no exact figures that reveal the percentage of users. But research is being done to find out the prevalence of scorpion smoking addiction.
According to the news of Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’, Azimullah, a former employee of the Narcotics Control Department of the province, has traveled to the province for several years. They found addicts in about seven districts of the province. In the report, he did not disclose the number of drug addicts, but he claims that now scorpion smoking is not a rare drug in the province. Azeem commented on the lack of laws for scorpion smoking in Pakistan.

Scorpion venom dangerous for human brain
He said that we need laws to stop the killing of scorpions. Scorpions are used in medicines for diseases like cancer and AIDS. Unless the use of scorpions is controlled, scorpion intoxication will continue to threaten the availability of scorpions for therapy. Experts say that scorpion venom is dangerous for the human brain. Of the 1,750 known species of scorpions, 25 are lethal to humans.

The scorpion is allowed to cook on the coal till it dies. Addicts dry the smoke emanating from it. The venomous tail of a scorpion is particularly favored among addicts, which can become a dangerous addiction.
