Pakistani human rights activist Mahrang Baloch

Prominent Pakistani human rights activist Mehrang Baloch on Wednesday said Baloch students continue to face violence and harassment at the hands of the government, with the latest incident being the Quetta Police raid on the Bolan Medical College (BMC) hostel.

Sharing a post on X, Baloch wrote, “Baloch students continue to face violence and harassment by the government. Last night, Quetta police raided BMC hostel, beat up male and female students and arrested more than 100 male students.

The post further said, “All detained students should be released and Quetta Police should be held accountable for their violent and illegal actions.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan Armed Forces have abducted six people after raids in Kech, Kharan and Dera Bugti districts of Balochistan.

According to a report in The Balochistan Post, three youths were reportedly detained by Pakistani forces in Kench district on Tuesday. The armed forces had conducted raids before forcibly disappearing the youth.

According to Balochistan Post, Ismail, a shopkeeper from Balanigore, Imran, a student, and Liaqat Ali, a resident of Dasht, were forcibly disappeared by the forces.

Locals said the victims were abducted when they were on their way to attend a poetry program in memory of Mubarak Qazi in Kadan. Meanwhile, Dr. Liaquat Ali was forcibly detained in a raid in Dasht Maskar.

Balochistan Post further reported that Saeed Ahmed’s son Waseem was allegedly abducted from his/her shop on Kharan Gawash Road in Kharan district of Balochistan by the armed forces.

In a separate incident, Omar’s son Talal and Ibrahim’s son Ameer Baloch were reportedly abducted by Pakistani forces from Qadan and taken to an undisclosed location.

This was a result of intense military operations launched by the armed forces following attacks on military camps.

After the recent attack, the armed forces launched a strict military operation in the entire area and they also shut down mobile services. Banks and other shops as well as schools and other educational facilities were closed as the curfew disrupted the needs of communities. Additionally, helicopters were seen flying in the area with reports of a large number of military personnel being deployed in the area.

Such operations created fear and terror in the minds of Baloch people.

These ongoing incidents of enforced disappearance are leading to human rights violations by the Pakistan Armed Forces.
